Welcome! My name is Jane Nemecek, and I'm a lifelong turf writer, thoroughbred historian, and pedigree analyst. I have been publishing since high school and can hardly imagine doing anything else. :)
This website is supposed to be a presentation of some of my work, my online notepad with whatever curiosity comes my way - and maybe something else in the process :) Things tend to develop in time, and wide open options is one of the things I really like about long-term projects. In any case, I really hope that you'll find some useful and interesting things here :)
Before you start reading, there's a personally important note. I was born and reside in Czechia, Central Europe, and English is not my mother language. I've been using it for 30 years; I have loved English since I was a kid, and I'm a member of online communities from all over the world long enough to know that nobody will give me a hard time just because of some errors. I appreciate it a lot, it's a wonderful attitude - not very common in my own country.
However, these two languages ARE different. And even though I work with professional language tools, you can catch me doing something unusual: using weird phrases that may be common in Czech; using punctuation in the wrong way because some rules are, actually, exactly opposite in both languages; or just having seemingly "unnatural" way of talking in English. Since I know these differences ARE noticeable in my work, I wanted to explain their origin. :)
To give you a quick rundown before the start - Pedigree notes are for short comments, Articles & Bloodlines for lengthy analyses, My work presents tangible results of my thoroughbred & writing mania, and About me is just a personal story of a data analyst with recently discovered ADHD. I'm not a very open person, but I was surprised to learn how much, actually, ADHD may have influenced my passion for thoroughbreds and my work. As I am, among other things, seeking new career options, I feel it's the right thing to be open about it.
